What makes a great referral
Your referrals convert fastest when the business has at least one of these:
- Sells in 2+ states or countries
- Plans to expand to new regions in the next 60–90 days
- Has sales tax pain: wrong rates, nexus confusion, filing stress, exemptions, audit risk
- Has a clear decision maker (Owner, CFO, Controller)
Referral partner requirements
To keep the program clean and high quality, we approve partners who meet these requirements:
- You serve real businesses
You actively work with businesses (not hobby sellers), and you can refer decision makers. - You follow ethical and compliant practices
No spam. No misleading claims. No sharing private client data without permission. - You can provide basic referral context
At minimum: the company, the decision maker contact, where they sell (states/countries), and the main pain point. - You agree to our partner terms
Simple agreement covering commission rules, confidentiality, and client protection.
How the program works
Step 1: Apply

Step 2: Get approved
You receive your partner onboarding email, referral link/code, and partner kit.
Step 3: Refer a client
You can refer by warm intro or by sharing your partner link.
Step 4: IST runs the call and onboarding
We qualify, scope, and set up the client. You stay in the loop.
Step 5: You earn commissions
Commissions are calculated on collected revenue and paid on a regular schedule.
Commission and payouts
IST commissions are designed to be simple, fair, and based on real results.
All commissions are calculated on collected revenue only (after the customer pays).
Referral Partner (IST sells and closes)
If you introduce a qualified client and IST handles the sales process, you earn:
- 10% of the client’s monthly subscription
- Paid for 12 months
- Paid only after invoices are paid
Partner-led Close (you sell, IST delivers)
If you introduce the lead and you manage the sales process yourself, you earn:
- 25% of first-year revenue
- Paid after the first customer payment clears
This track is for partners who actively run the sales motion and help close the deal.
Account-Managed Renewals
If you continue supporting the client after onboarding (adoption, check-ins, renewal support), you may also earn:
- 5% of renewal revenue
- Only for accounts officially assigned to you

Do I need to sell IST?
No. You only introduce us. IST handles discovery, setup, and support.
Can I refer clients outside the US?
Yes, if the client has sales tax complexity across regions. We will confirm fit during qualification.
When do I get paid?
Partners are paid after a client becomes active and pays their invoice. Payouts are made on a monthly schedule.
Can I refer more than one client?
Yes. High-performing partners can unlock higher tiers.
Do you provide exclusivity?
Not by default. Exclusivity is considered only for top-tier partners with consistent volume.
